CT PFMLA Update

Did you know?
Effective January 1, 2022, employees in the State of Connecticut covered under the Connecticut Paid Family and Medical Leave Act may be eligible for income replacement benefits when taking time away from work to take care of personal and family health needs?

A covered employee that meets certain eligibility requirements can claim PFMLA benefits from the CT Paid Leave (CTPL) Authority. This program is funded by employee contributions of 0.5% of each paycheck withheld by the employer and paid to the CT Paid Leave Authority trust fund.

All employers with one or more employees are covered under the CT PFMLA, which is separate from both the Federal FMLA and other leave benefits offered by the employer.

Covered employees are eligible for CTPL benefits if they have:
• Earned wages of at least $2,325 in the highest quarter in the first four of five most recently completed quarters.
• Are currently employed OR have been employed within the last 12 weeks.
